Approach Depths
Approximate depths that can be found in the River Yealm.
Depth observations Tuesday 30th March 2021. LW 1414 BST 0.31m. Depths corrected to LAT.
These are a guide only and every skipper should ensure that there is enough water for the vessel at all states of the tide.
Public moorings available for visitors to use.
PM1. Minimum depth 2.0m. First mooring on port side east of Misery Point. Yellow can.
This mooring is for boats up to 60’ (18.2m) length on deck. It can also be used by 3*40’ (12m) boats. Maximum total displacement of boats, 25 Tonnes. This mooring is reservable for craft over 45’ (13.6m). Please contact the Harbour Office for more details.
PM2. Minimum depth 2.0m. Opposite Spit port hand mark in Yealm Pool, starboard side of fairway. Yellow can.
This mooring is for boats up to 40’ length on deck. It can be used by 2*40’ (12m) rafted or 3*33’ (10m) rafted. Maximum total displacement of boats, 25 Tonnes. This mooring is not reservable
PM3. Minimum depth 2.0m. Opposite Spit port hand mark in Yealm Pool, starboard side of fairway. Yellow can.
This mooring is for boats up to 40’ length on deck. It can be used by 3*40’ (12m) rafted. Maximum total displacement of boats, 25 Tonnes. This mooring is not reservable
PM4. Minimum depth 2.0m. approximately 100m upstream of Spit port hand mark on the starboard side of fairway. Yellow can.
This mooring is for boats up to 40’ length on deck. It can be used by 3*40’ (12m) rafted. Maximum total displacement of boats, 25 Tonnes. This mooring is not reservable
PM5. Minimum depth 2.0m. Opposite Harbour Office on Wembury side of river. Yellow can.
This mooring is for holiday maker’s dinghies and RIBs. Maximum length 6m. May be rafted up to 3 boats. This mooring is reservable. Please contact the Harbour Office for more details.
PM6. Minimum depth 1.2m. 100m upstream of PM5 on Wembury side of river. Yellow can.

RNSA. Approximately 50m downstream of the main pontoon, starboard side of fairway. Red can.
This is for RNSA members only. Boats using this mooring should display the RNSA Club Burgee whilst using this buoy. This mooring is not reservable.
Main Pontoon. Visiting boats may raft up to 3 vessels deep on both sides.
The pontoon is liable to movement so the depths shown are for guidance.
Top Pontoon. Visiting boats may raft up to 3 vessels deep on both sides.
